Frequently asked questions
Health Insurance – We are blessed that my husband, even though he worked for a company for a short-time, because of his age has insurance for life. Now that he’s on Medicare, it is his primary and his company insurance is his secondary. Everything is usually covered in addition to his meds. I was able to get on the same insurance, and even though we pay for it, we feel it is reasonable.
Prescription Medicines – We get the majority of our meds through Express Scripps. The only issue we have had with them is when we have tried to have the meds sent to our location as we have moved around. We solved this by having everything sent to our “Escapees” address and then getting them when our mail is sent to us.
Employment - I started a job with a non-profit, working from home (the RV) about 8 years ago. When we decided to start traveling, they were fine with it as long as I attend 3-4 scheduled meetings in Dallas a year. Since we are usually in Houston in the winter months we normally schedule our travels around these meetings.
Internet – We have a Verizon Mifi and other than deep in the mountains of Colorado and surprisingly in Burlington, IN, it has worked wonderfully! We have 40 gigs/month on it. They always try and get us to upgrade to unlimited however then we would be “throttled” so we don’t. We also have an AT&T Mobley (no longer available) which we learned about through Technomadia. I highly recommend if you don’t join their group that you at least follow them on FB. They are the gurus on mobile internet!
Washer/Dryer – I hate laundromats of any kind. That said I would not RV without a washer/dryer. We have used our stMobileInternetInfo.comcking Whirlpool set that came with the RV since day one!
